I have a 90 gallon 48x18x25 with external overflow at one end
penninsula style. Can such a tank use a wavebox. From other postings the center overflow is prefered, just wondering how this works on external overflow boxes. Also how far do you keep the water level from the top of the tank, I am assuming lower than a regular tank. Thanks.

You will need to have room for a wave that could reach 1" in height. It is unkown how this iwll work with the end overflow, figure it takes about 1 sec for the water to travel back, for this second, the overflow will not be being fed, with a high through flow it could run dry, at the very least it will add a level of noise.

I have a Tunze 6512 wavebox on my 6' 100 gallon tank. Works like a champ and my corals are definately happier. I set my wave box up on my tank to where I am leaving approximately two inces of space from the top of the tank to my water line. I played with the strength of the wavemaker until now I actually get a double wave going :)
