Pruning Red Mangroves

I have a couple of mangroves in my refugium that are grown about 2 to 3 feet into my lights and would like to trim them down does anyone know of the proper procedure.

I just pick the new buds off. If it is really tall, you can cut it back by a third, I would think, if you are treating it like a garden shrub! Mine is very hardy, so I think you'll be fine.

Mine are starting to look like bonsai plants!

Wouldn't it be cool to let them grow uncut and huge? Like if they were in a swamp in the Keys?

I just raised my lights but I have 2 feet max!
