i wanted to get a crocea or a maxima because of their beautiful blue color. Would a 70W MH over an 8 gallon take be sufficient?

The lighting will be sufficient, but you may find it difficult to keep a clam in that small of a tank.

I would try a gold maxima, or if you can find a small, gold/red/dark green corcea.
