harvesting cheato

how should i go about harvesting my cheato ? do you guys just rip a chunk off ? or should i take it off the bottom of the ball any suggestions ?

it's best IME/IMO to cut it out with scissors and try to take the denseness where it's most packed together. the loose ball that is left will then grow much faster.

I had the same question. you mention loose ball, but how much to you take away. 1/2 ... 1/3 2/3?

Is there a chance that I am removing pods when I take some out?
Because there is a number of pods residing in the cheato. Course you cant see them when you mess with the cheato.

the more you take out the less there is for nutrient absorption but the less frequent you'll have to prune it. and yes pods live in there and you'll be removing many of them when you take it out, but your not cutting the tanks population by any considerable number.
