Pseudocheilinops ataenia

I just added a trio of very small Pink Streaked wrasses. Had to use a flash so it washed the colors out a bit.

Just took 'em home from my shop.
They share a tank with......

Pygmy Possum Wrasse (Wetmorella triocellata)
Geometric Perchlet (Plectranthias inermis)
Spiny Basslet (Belonepterygion fasciolatum)
Hi Fin Red Banded Goby (Stonogobiops nematodes)

The tank has a built in refugium (you can see the exit pipe in the picture) and I seeded it with A LOT of amphipods and mysids

The Pink Streak is sexually dichromatic and these are in female coloration. I don't know if the juv. males ,in this species, look like females as with many other wrasses.

I have been looking for those for the last year. My pair went out with Ivan. Where did you get them from? You can PM me if you do not want to list the wholesaler online. Obviously not one that I am regularly watching.

Redfish, several wholesalers have them. uww, sdc(cryptic 6 line), gg, etc

Peter, they're coming in from Java from what i hear. I have a few waiting to go into my 65.

Mine came from SDC and they do list them as Cryptic Sixlines.

Boy do I feel silly. Been wondering what the cryptic sixline was.

Kind of like wandering what the Vila wrasse was on the list for two months before ordering one.

hey dave do you have a 50 foot clam under your tank at home as well? ;)

We have been playing phone tag (chris in nashville) and I would like to talk to you at some point. When are you usually in at your shop?

I came in to your store about two months ago and was totally blown away by that SPS tank in the back.

Dave,

as soon as you have a full size picture of one would you let us use it for the fish lexicon http://www.meerwasser-lexikon.de/index.php ?

You can add your experience and of course CC is on your name

I hope I find them here too one day!

I wondered about them as well and thought they were trying to sell P. evanidus with a different name but the price didn't jive. When I saw P. evanidus on the list as well I thought that these must be the Pink Streaked....and they were.

The Vila wrasse is usually the one from Vanuatu but it is not Cirrhilabrus temminckii .It is Cirrhilabrus cf temminckii. I assume they call it Vila after the capital which is Port Vila.

I picked up one of these little guys a week ago myself. Been near impossible to find any good info on it but it seems to be rather shy.

I finally figured out the Vila wrasse and you are definitely correct. It is local, apparently, to only that Vanuatu area. I have seen them refered to as a Conde wrasse before, but I believe that is a mistake. I have also seen them called peacock flasher wrasses by LiveAquaria and others but they only show female coloration I believe. They are very well colored as males.

The Pink Streaks are great fish. You can have multiple fish, they stay small, they pair and mate, they have a great personality and the adult/male coloration can be really cool. They are shy at first, but they will eventually come on out of hiding.

are they as aggressive as a 6line wrasse? Cool Fish!

Redfish

Pink Streaks are not aggressive. At least that is my long term experience. They do tend to stay in the shadows though. They are also very hardy.

got another one and they are way more active. on thing I have noticed is they are very selective when it come to food size mine seem to like mysis but are very picky when it comes to size. I should try some formula 1 as well may be easier for them to process.

The swim together out in the open towards the "evening" and the make kinda probes at the females vent.

Here is a picture of another male in a different tank taken with a flash.
