i recently got a croceca clam. of course i picked out the healthiest looking one, footed to the bottom, large mantle and not a gaping hole. well its "hole" no clue what its called is gaping pretty wide. yet its mantle as big as ever. is this bad.

also ive read about putting them in a seperate container with some phytoplankton for food. is kent phytoplex ok for them??

as far as tank specs, total system volume is 170ish gallons, tank is 17" deep and he is on the sandbed and probabally 8" away from being dirrectly under a 250w metal halide.

also the clam is3.5-4" ive been reading that as long as its under good light, at that size they dont really need to be fed.

He'll probably appriciate being placed on a small flat rock, and then put on the sand bed..they like to attach to stuff...plus it's better than them digging down to your glass and attaching to that so you can't ever move them again.

Other than that, sounds awesome, and I'm sure he'll be very happy () : )

Oh, and you don't need to feed him.

Post some pics when you get the chance, we all love to see some clams :D () : )

Cheers,

Ditto grimm. You are correct reefer, at that size you don't need to feed. Post a pic
