The Reefcentral Folding team just finished our 500th work unit! The old team had 5 members, we've got one of them back plus about 16 more people, with over 45 computers.

Trstange just passed the 100 point mark!

As a team, we've folded 933 work units and have 28 people contributing. Not too shabby at all!

I went home and visited my mother over Christmas. While there, I added F@H to her computer. Like she would ever notice the difference! Now I have 6!

Someone started folding under the name "CORA" (Central Ohio Reef Aquarists) so I switched my user name to "CTARS".

Shoestring Reefer
03/04/2006, 06:56 AM
Two other clubs are pooling their resources to fold under the RC team. I sense CTARS might be in for a butt woopin' from the start.

CORA Central Ohio Reef Aquarists (http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=791403)

CIMA = (Central Illinois Marine Aquarists ) (http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=790215)

Feel free to fold under the name CTARS (your name) if you still want to track your individual contribution. IE, I'd be "CTARS Mike_Norwood" Eventually I'll put together a way to just fold under our names and tally up team scores.

trstange
03/06/2006, 08:36 AM
you can change it?

Shoestring Reefer
03/06/2006, 04:58 PM
If you're using the graphical clients, right click on the iocn in the tray, click "configure". On the "user" tab, change the user name.

:)

All your old stats will remain, so (for example) if you've done 5 work units and 1000 points, those work units and points will be on the Reefcentral team forever. If you ever want to fold under that name again, you can.

trstange
03/06/2006, 05:56 PM
Can both of us use the ctars name and add up points more quickly?

Shoestring Reefer

We have twwo people contributing to the user/subteam CTARS, so I guess it worked.

The reefcentral team just made it to the top 600, and we've folded over 3700 work units and earned over 500,000 points. We'll be in the top 500 in about 5 weeks.

Here’s an update of the stats for local reef club teams. The ranking varies widely depending on what parameter is used.

Ranking just the user names corresponding to the local club gives…

Rank Team Total Points
1. CORA 910
2. CTARS 1,163
3. CIMA 404

If the usernames of all the people in a club are also included gives a very different picture…

Rank Team Total Points
1. all of CTARS 46,997 (+1,228)
2. all of CIMA 10,986 (+577)
3. all of CORA 13,903 (+5,219)

Here's the detailed breakdown...

All of CTARS 46,997
Mike_Norwood 17,286
Minh 12,341
trstang 6,583
dfiddy 9,624
CTARS 1,163

All of CIMA 10,986
andycook 8,425
bravosp 1,141
LegoZ81 1,016
CIMA_andycook 404

All of CORA 13,903
CORA 910
RokleM 7,517
Cowcio 524
-Keith- 4,952

One reason I haven't changed my username is that I put Folding onto computers to which I have at most limited access, like my mother's in Houston. So, I'm going to keep folding as minh_han and someone will have to tally manually.

Hey Mike,

What controls the size of the work unit? My first one was like 500 and the next one is 20000. It also reset after I got to about 8600 and is now back at 0. Am I doing something wrong?

Doug

Different work units have different numbers of steps, that's just how Stamford makes them.

There's nothing you really can do wrong, unless you have an overclocked computer that's unstable or something like that. I've had two work units that would either restart, or dissappear. That's just two out of 70 or so. If you've had one out of two do that, I guess it's just bad luck. :(
