I recently picked up a algae blenny about a month or two ago. I noticed my clam was receeding. While it still reacts to light, it doesnt open like it used to. Its a crocea clam on the sand bed. Ive had it for over 6 months now, nothing changed just the new algae blenny. the size of the clam is about 5 inches.

Today i noticed that my algae blenny likes taking bites at the shell over and over again.

i think i might make a cage out of eggcrate over it

nitrates and phosphates are all in check and the ph is a little off i think 8.3-5 cant really tell because of the crappy test kits

nitrates and phosphates aren't going to bother a clam,in fact they like them. those Blennies will nip at clams but i dont think that they intend to. i think they are just grabbing algae and cant see there lips:)

I have several clams with a lawnmower blenny and no problem. He only eats the algae. The clams seem to get used to new tank mates after a while.
