Post your growth pics here! OMAS, COMAS, SOMAS everyone post your growth pics!
I'll start with my first acro. I have been in the hobby 3 years and up until about 4 months ago (when I upgraded from VHO to MH) I had never attempted an acro. Well I got a Milli and since then I have been hooked on SPS!
So here is my first acro frag. This pic was taken the day I got it, Sept 6th.

This one was taken on Oct 29th.

And finally this was taken on Dec. 6th.

I'm so lazy that I always forget to document the growth. I do know that a pink birdnest that I got in September is already 1/3 larger and the green monti frag from reeferkeith is at least twice as large, probably 3 times.
Kinda off subject - ReeferKeith, how far from the lights do you put your monti. Mine is up pretty high.
ReeferKeith
12/12/2005, 04:33 PM
Nice pics Donny, Lori, and Jarod looking good! Lanamarks my monti is probably around 5 to 6 inches from the top of the water, so pretty high up. I'll post some more pics later on.

Here are some more. The zoanthids above are the same group as the one directly above the toadstool. TheMcs, the Rhodactis on the right are the two that I got from you. Keckles, that black Tubastrea has grown about .5"-1" on the tips. You can already tell where it will start to grow more branches from.

Keith - what supplements do you use on your tank?

04/24/2006, 08:54 AM
Keith has found zooplankton to be insufficient for his coral's growth needs and has recently switched to dosing this:

Hey Keith can you come stick your finger in my tank?!
ReeferKeith
04/24/2006, 12:09 PM
kittyj- I add B-Ionic daily, change water every week, sometimes every 2 weeks, and I dose oyster eggs once a week. Honestly I attribute my growth to my lights. 2X250 halides on a 58 gal is alot of light.
Jared, quit trying to give away my secrets man!
Stacy, you dont know where my finger has been. :P

If I may add a few pics to this collection:
The purple monti I have at 07/2005 in my old tank
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/paul-w/speckledcroceasept2005.jpg
after the move to the new tank (and after it had been frag a dozen or more times) 05/ 2006
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/paul-w/newtankmiddle.jpg
After the tank rearrangement and reaquascaping. 08/2006. Also notice the green cap to the left...and the distance between them.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/paul-w/pillar2.jpg
here they are at 11/2006

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/paul-w/2montiporas.jpg
4/11/07
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/paul-w/montiporas.jpg
and while I dont have a picture from the last few days...they are now thoroughly welded together and growing through/over each other.
The massive growth spurt coincided with the addition of the T5s.
On this coral, especially in the last picture, you can see growth rings where i was having trouble with my Ca Reactor running correctly.
Paul.

After posting pictures twice, I've since moved them and broke the link. Here they are again, but with new updates...
Purple Monti Cap[b]
This one has shown it's true form the best. It encrusted down to the base and as soon as it reached the side it started to grow out instead of encrusting more. As a cool detail, I found out that this is at least 5th generation frag.
4/15/07

[b]Orange Monti Digi
This has been fun to watch grow because for a branching Monti, it sure does like to encrust. It has since fallen down a little and a branch has touched another rock, and the tip of that branch is growing on the rock. It looks like I could make an easy frag of it.
4/15/07

White and Lime Monti Cap
This one has shown the quickest growth recently. Within the past month, the edges that you can't view have already encrusted past the disk almost to the rock. Not much outward growth.
5/21/07

This is the fastest growing coral I have ever had.I made 5 frags of it for Crase last year.I am going to have to frag it again and place it on a another rock befor it starts growing on the sand lol.

Sometimes it is fun looking back at old pics to see how your tank is progressing. It is also a little sad to see some of the casualties that have happened along the way.
Well here is a blue tort survivor from March 07:

Jarrod, that last picture looks familiar :), glad some of them must have turned out. Hope the other ones did as well. I'm not as familiar with getting the colors right under halides, though I learned some this time. Next time I should be able to bias the color a little better and get the shots to be a bit cleaner.
And these look really good on my new computer monitor. Since I'm working more from home now my company let me go buy some new equipment, and one of the items was a new 24" wide screen monitor. It's really bright and good colors. I think I may get a sunburn sitting this close to it! And it may help me do a little better on the photos when correcting colors since it's got better color than my laptop screen.

This thing practically died on me, only to come back and grow like crazy. Some call it an Appleberry. Atlantis Aquariums is selling it for $120 for a 1/2" frag. What a rip off :eek1:

And as an update to my Purple with Blue Polyp Monti Cap, here is what it looks like now!
When it first started showing good growth 4-15-07

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/TravisStevens/Aquariums/Saltwater/Growth%20Pics/Purple%20Monti%20Cap/PurpleCap8-9-10.jpg
And what it looks like today! Instead of growing outward and plating, it grew down past the frag disk and on the rock below it. now it's almost covered that rock!
