The first two pics are of my 40 breeder with 2 PC bulbs. One blue bulb and one 50/50. I love the look of the blue PC bulbs, not the purple. I think it's a 460nm bulb. The 50/50 is also half 460nm with the other half 6700K.
As for the green Acan, I've had it for 15 months. It started as a 3 polyp frag and has only put out a few baby polyps around it. You can tell which 3 polyps were the originals, since they are the only full grown polyps there, and are a brighter color than the babies.
Here it is when I got it in September 2004.

Hey Hugo,
Sweet pics!
The purple and green Micro from you has bright white centers for me. You can see it in this pic on the bottom middle.

I picked up my first micro last week. Can these guys take halide light like lords can? (400w)
I have yet to move it from my T5 frag tank.

I have a 4 foot long tank that I run 2 250 watt 20K halides overdriven by a PFO HQI ballast, with a 400 watt 10K squeezed in the middle of the 250's. I also run 4 110 watt VHO over my tank. I'd say it's a lot of light over a 4 foot by 24" tall tank.
I keep my Acans and Micros about halfway down on the far left side of the tank.
Here are a few full tank shots from December 2005

http://users.adelphia.net/~randyolszewski/images/FullopenDec05.jpg
http://users.adelphia.net/~randyolszewski/images/FulltopDec05.jpg
As you can see in the pics, a lot of the Acans and Micros hang out in the same area as some Acros and Pocillopora.
Here's a shot of the tank in June 05. This was about a month after the tank was set up. The Acans have been in the same spot since the tank was set up.

Unbelievable!!!
I guess my micro will be o.k. in the main tank. You have such a wide range of specimens, its an achievement to house them all together in such great health.

Great looking shots Randy!
Cherryproperty-be sure to start them low/to the side of the tank and see how they handle the light. Randy's pieces have likely been slowly acclimated to those positions.

You are correct Jen.
As you can see in this pic, I started most of the Micros on the bottom of the tank.
http://users.adelphia.net/~randyolszewski/images/Micromussas2Oct05.jpg
I did experiement with one of my smaller pieces and just threw it into the brighter light and it did not have a problem.
But's its better to be safe than sorry.

Randyo i like how you placed the micros and how they all are growing together. Are you feeding or supplementing anything?

Not really.
When I had a small collection of Acans and micros, I would feed a few times a week. I noticed they grew faster. I also noticed they grew faster when I cut them up so it might not be all the feedings.
They still grow, but at a slower pace.
When I did feed, it would be frozen mysis, brine, and cycloseeze. I was also feeding freeze dried Krill broken into smaller pieces.

when you get a small frag,do you just mount it to a piece of rock and let it grow or what....Thanks
JenDub
03/25/2006, 09:53 AM
Marcus- you've got the right idea, super glue it to a rock or frag plug and let it encrust

is it just one half of a polyp? Half heads will usually heal quickly as long as there is at least one whole head on the frag HTH

Thankyou Jendub-I decided to try and rescue the poor frag, we'll see what happens.

You know the more I snoop around the LPS threads like this the more I want to dump most of my SPSs and go with these.
I know one more guy to drive up the prices! LOL
