Thanks, I really like the camera, i went from a 2 megapixel to an 8, so it was quite an upgrade. here is another one, and these were taken with the pumps off, so i should be able to get some even better ones when i pull the plugs.
some eagle eyes and another type

this guy has an amazing tank, with lots and lots of great zoas. a pleasure to trade with

Not yet alex, though today i will, even if it means moving some big rocks around. Thanks for the complements, you were a pleasure to trade with as well, though I am curious as to what my really good stuff is? How are the zoas you got from me doing? are the unmounted ones doing all right? I would like to see some pics once they open up.

I'd say they look alot like what people are calling "safecrackers", just as good or maybe better. ;)
best true red zoanthid I've ever seen, except of course the red people eater.

everything is looking good anthony. those two you scraped off the clam shell are struggling, but a couple of polyps semi opened today. i dont think the ones with the orange mouths have opened yet though.

i'm using 2x175w 15k's (soon to add 220w of actinic VHO)......but my camera is a POS....so they really don't look as dark red/brown in real life as they do in the pic...
i'd say they are a very very bright red, the center is almost a pink.
there was a thread a month ago about the XM 15k's, and how they give amazing color to zoas. i get great color, and decent growth out of all my corals (including sps)....so I don't have too many complaints.

What kind of macro lense are you using there?
twon8
01/30/2006, 01:20 PM
I used my own settings, on my camera it is M mode. It permits me to change the aperture and shutter speed as needed to get the lighting I want.
i wasn't using a macro lense, just a macro extension tube and a 40-150 lense that came with the camera, and e-500. I plan to get a 50mm f2 macro lens, but i have to save up for it first.

21reefman, i like how you have the softies and SPS seperated into two different tank systems. I'm guessing they aren't connected. good job regardless, looks great!
People don't beleive me when I say there are alot of complications in the water chemistry when you try to do a mixed reef.......as SPS prefer low nutrient systems, and zoas / other softies like the normal/high nutrient systems.
those in your 2nd pic..arent zoanthids right? they look more like some kind of palythoa, or if i'm totally off base some type of gorgonian like a flower pot.
Anthony, any new pics? I need to take some new pics of those protopalythoa spp (the pink/greenish ones with the green mouth), they look much much better now and are starting to grow some new spuds.
