What do you think of these. Still working out the camera white balance but these are the safecrackers I have.

The pic does not do them justice

I have had them for about 7 or 8 months, they started out at about 10 pollups.

They have really exploded over the last 3 months. I moved and went from a DSB to basicly a BB. I took sand and mixed it with epoxy so it looks like I have a sand bed but none of the fuss. So I am assuming that has made the change. Everything in my tank has just started to go insane.

I do not want to tuen this into a DSB/BB thread so nevermind that.

Glad everyone likes them.

I am actually trading about 40 Pollups along with some Ricordia and some GSP's and some green zoa's tomorrow for a CPR Bak-Pak 2 and a hammer with 3 heads.

I have some similar to those (if not the same) but have not seen the same amount of growth. If you don't mind telling me, what type of light and how far from the light are these?

Thanks!

I have them under 1 250W 14K bulb, about 12inches below the top of the water and about 22inches from the lights.

I will try and get another pic of another colony I have that has also exploded. HAve to wait till this evening though

Nothing special to get that growth other than changing the sandbed? I have some I would love to grow like that

That is the only thing that has changed.

That being said, I still think a DSB works, but given my experiance, I now think you really need to change out the DSB every now and then.

When we moved and I removed the DSB, I cant tell you how much crap got reliesed into the water column. It was quite nasty.

The only other thing is I was running 1.25 and now I am at 1.23, but this is with a cheap hydrometer.

I am getting ready to buy a good refractometer so I will let you know what the ACTUAL salinity is later.

Just curious - but they seem to look alot like the safecrackers that are being sold for rediculous prices on eBay right now.

I am not selling any on ebay, but yea, I heard somone bought like 7 pollups for 250$ once... Too much money and no sence if you ask me.

me personally, I like to trade with local reefers to help get them out there. I have not done any trading here at Reefcentral yet but I may look into it after it gets warmer so shipping does nto suffer.

Actually I have a colony of those myself and was considering putting them on eBay to cash in on the craze. It's amazing what some people are willing to pay. I'm fortunate to live in an area with alot of good LFS's that get nice corals in from time to time and if I'm patient I don't have to pay those insane prices.

It's a really common color morph. I bought a nice size colony the other day for $20. Any one that would pay that much for them must be desperate for a good lfs in the area.
