Okay, I really like the Dolphin Aqua Sea Amp Master pumps for a variety of reasons and would really like to get one for my upcoming set-up, but the plumbing from my sump is 1". The fittings for the particular pump that I am looking at is 1.5". The information from the Marine Depot website says that you can use 1" pipe with a 40% loss in flow. If I get this pump and plumb it with 1" pipe, will it damage the pump? Also, I have never run plumbing before aside from small projects around the house. So any tips on plumbing are welcome. Here is the info from the website:

Dolphin 3600 Aqua Sea Amp Master External Pump

Whisper quiet. 24 hour run-dry capability. Glass filled polypropylene housing and impeller. Super efficient 1/15 hp motor. One year warrantee. Low heat exchange. Saltwater safe. Low operating cost. Ideal for any large application. Requires 1.5" in and out.

The Dolphin Aqua Sea 2100, 2700, 3000, 3600, and 4700 pumps operate at 1725 revolutions per minute. This motor design provides many benefits. First, the motor generates much less heat than higher speed motors. Secondly, these motors use very little electricity (as low as .9 amps) and are extremely quiet. Also, because of the large impellers, they move very high volumes of water can be dialed back to a desired flow rate without harm to the pump. These models are for applications calling for between 1000 and 4500 gallons per hour with head pressures ranging from one to ten head feet on 2100-3600, and to 16 head feet on the 3000 & 4700.

NEW! All 2100, 2700 & 3600 models come with the same quiet & super efficient motor that is used on the Amp Master 3000 pump. This means that they will all draw about one amp of electricity, and they will be even more silent than they already are.NOTE: The 2100, 2700, 3600, and Amp Master 3000 can operate through 1" plumbing: however, flow rates will decrease by about 40%.
