I've seen ich before and know what it looks like.

My Royal Gramma seems to have some whitish spots on his right flank. It's not very noticeable, almost as if he's sheding scales or something. It's not ich. I've seen him rubbing himself against rocks.

Is this normal behavior and physiology or should I be concerned? All other fish seem just fine and no discoloration or odd behavior exhibited.

My royal gramma always has some white spots on him that come and go...he's so healthy though and fat..He's been like that since I first got him. My tank is pretty healthy though with tons of live rock.

Good, mine seems happy. He eats and does his usual swimming sideways thing, hanging out under rock outcroppings, etc. It almost seems like he's just getting older and turning a bit grey at the temples.

Flukes? some type of parasite like that maybe. This is not a "normal" thing especially with the rubbibg himself.

I would move the fish to quarantine and treat with hyposalinity. If the scales are lifting it could be a bacterial infection, but scrathing usually indicates parasites. Please give us more details to work with so we can recommend further action.
