I have a 60gal reef that's 18 inches tall. I have 4x96W PC's. I read various opinons on proper lighting for clams. Can I do it with my lighting? Thanks!

I had a crocea clam under that same lighing in my 75 and it did fine, But it was at the top of the tank.

To my understanding theother types of clams demand more light, and they will do best under halides.

Yes, I had one double in size under 4*55W in a 50 gallon, you have enough light.

Derassa is concidered a "lower" light clam, they like to be in the sand btw, just make sure plenty of light gets down to him.

I have 2 96s on my 50 and have 2 AWESOME croceas on my sand bed. Growing faster than the ones in the store under halides. I cherry picked them...I had to they were too awesome =(.

Croceas are fairly light demanding, however as they should be placed on the rockwork, where they will bore / attach, if you can get them within the top 8' or so, directly under the lights they should do very well, I wouldnt go any lower than that, however I had 2 in my 60g under 8x65pc one attached in the rocks, the other refused, and finally left him on the sand bed. The one on the rocks did extremely well, and the other did nearly as good (at 13" deep)in that tank for the past year+, now both have been moved to my new 100g under MH. For these clams you can tell if they are getting enough light or not, the "mouth" inhalent siphon shouldnt be gaping open, it should look relativiely zippered. If the clam is fully extended and mouth is gaping, It is not getting enough light, and is trying to maximze it's surface area.
