I recently changed my 2.5 gallon water. It is my normal weekly change of about 10%. Not thinking I mixed the water with the salt and fortunalty took the temperture for the heck of it. I relized it was 68* F. So i almost pourmed it down the drain when I had an idea. I put the cup in the sink and heated it with Hot water and placed the cup in the middle of it and the temperture rized quickly. However if your not doing the mixing in a small cup like I, remeber to use the bathtub for same purpose.

Look at it another way:

When you add 10% new make-up water at 68 degree F into a tank of water that's at, say 80 degree F. The result is:

Final temperature = 80 * 90% + 68 * 10% = 78.8 degree F

There is 1.2 degree F drop in temperature. I won't even worry about it too much. Just pour the new make-up water in slowly, you should be fine.
