I bought a blond Naso a week ago and I can not find anything that he will eat except the algea on the powerhead screens and there is not enough of that for him to survive. I have tried dried seaweed, flakes, pellets, live plants, frozen brine and mysis shrimp. No luck with any of them. I know he is hungry because he keeps picking at the powerheads and rocks but he just swims by everything else I feed him. Anyone have any suggestions for me?

Try the dried algae (nori) on a lettuce clip. Leave it in the tank for it to graze upon at its own leisure.

If you can find the variety pack, (Sprung I believe) look for the "Brown Algae" which should contain Padina.

Be persistant and patient as well. It took my powder blue almost two weeks before he would eat anything besides picking off the rocks. Now there's nothing he won't eat :)

Go to your local Asian food market and buy a pack of Nori. Its seaweed, the stuff they wrap susi in. Make sure you dont get the kind marinated in tea, just plain sheet of Nori. Now get some liquid garlic and pour some in a cup and marinate a sheet of Nori for an half hour to an hour and then hang the sheet of Nori in your tank with a clothes pin or food clip. He will eat that I would almost bet money on it.

He wont touch dried algae but has shown some interest in caulerpa racemora. I will try the nori seaweed from an Asian market, good idea. I'll try not to stress and thanks for the help.

I have had my blonde naso for about three
weeks and today is the first day he has eaten
my food(ocean nutrition flake-brine shrimp plus).
He also ate off my live rock and streams just like
yours , I tried everything . Have you seen the fish
take a dump? If so, I would just be patient and feed
your other fish like normal. Be sure to keep your
water quality up-

The only time I have seen him take a "dump" was when I bagged him up when I bought him. I have been using the ON Prime Reef but I will get some brine plus and see if he like that.
