For the past few days my Acan colony has not been out during the day, but all of the feeder tenticals are out at night. Does anyone have any suggestions? The colony is under a 400W MH about 2/3 of the way up.

I don't know that acans are supposed to come "out".
Enchinata or lord?
My enchinata just seems puffy throughout the day and doesn't really come out.
Got any pics?

i dont know what your tank size or specs are, but i would lower it from midway up, to lower, especially under the 4oo watter.

Could be too much light. Could be getting picked on by something.
I'd try moving it.

Im gonna move him down tomorrow. It is my first Acan Lord and I am learning by trial and error. After reading alon on here I started to spot feed each mouth with a syringe rather than the whole colony with a turkey baster. The colony looked puffier this morning so I am gonna continue this nightly feeding.

I second that, the too much lighting. As you move them to darker area, you will notice that they open up bigger and actually stretched for more light. So place it at the bottom, in the sandbed, then gradually bring them up. I think 400W would be a lot for Acans.

I agree, your acan might be able to handle than much light in time but it will have to be gradually. I keep mine under 2-250w 14k MH & 2-96w Actinics. I have lords 10inches from the lights but it took a while to get them there!
As far as feedings, you just need to make sure that every mouth gets some food. I have tons of acans and just do a combination of fresh seafood in a mini chopper until the food is fine and use a turkey baster every other day.

When do you typically feed your acans? I have been feeding mine at niht about an hour after the lights are off and the feeders are out.
