water parameters not changing

hi i have been cycling my tabnk for th last six weeks i put a rock cod in there to speed it up but the parameters are still the same they have gone up and down and now sre still showing signs of amm , nitrite, and nitrate there is about 220 pounds of live rock the tank is 250 gals

and idea,s


i did a 20 percent water change it helped for a bit but then went back

Was the live rock cured?

If not, that's a lot of rock. It may take some time to cure.

Six weeks is not a long time. Mine took over 90 days for the Nitite cycle to finally finsh.

It really depends on the rock. My rock (~100lbs) went to 0 ammonia/nitrite in a week or so.

Did your rock smell when you got it? Did you scrub it real good?


You might think about taking the rock out once a week and do the whole scrub/dunk/swish routine on it...
