Yes, all of them will outgrow a 55 gallon rather quickly as they are fairly fast growers.

Yes. I kept mine in my 55 for a while. He is now in our 125. I will say that he was very skittish in the smaller tank. Now he's out in the open and even feeds off the nori clip with my other two tangs. Very personable.
