What does the mouth of a mantis look like? It looks likes it between the maxillipeds, and I get the impression that it may be vertically oriented. Do they have teeth or like a beak structure? Also, i have read the octopuses insert enzymes to break down the inside of crabs, do mantids have a similiar method of eating the inside of shelled meals? When I retieve any crayfish carcasses from Boris' tank, they are always sucked dry of any flesh... I have also noticed that she can eat some scallops very quickly, while gulf shrimp take considerably longer...
