I need a quick link to a hospitol tank. ie: how to make one and make one fast.

I have a 10 galon being delivered in like 10 mins and have a aqu-tech filter with media that has been fully cycled in my main tank. also please check out my chromis post. I'm looking for regimens.

Thanks

I captured the 2 chromis that were looking bad and put them in a bucket that contained water from the tank. While I arranged my QT, one of them died within 15minutes of putting them in the bucket. The other one stayed about the same.

I have setup the QT tank with some pvc pieces in the bottom and am using my aqua-tech 30-60 from years past that had actually been running on my main tank. So, the filter pads should contain plenty of bacteria. I have a heater and am using a 13w florescent desk lamp for light. I have the sg set to ~1.016 right now.

I know this is just 1 chromis I'm going through alot of trouble for, but its a learning experience and hopefully I'll be able to save him. If I can this will give me confidence for the future.

I've ordered a new bulb for my UV filter. I'm sure my other one was old and not doing much. This is probably why these problems came about or at least they would have had a better chance of being prevented. When I get it, I'm going to run it full stream for at least 2 months in my main tank

Concerning the QT... Should I change out one if the pads for a new one with new carbon? Is there anything else I should do right now?

Thanks,
Ryan

A must read article on Quarantine: http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2004-10/sp/feature/index.php

What symptoms are the chromis displaying ? Any information on the tank, quarantined?, water parameters, length of time in tank, how long has the tank been up & running, tank mates, etc would help us help you.

Uv sterilizer will not cure the fish, it can cut down the number of pathogens in the water that flows through the sterilizer. The water must be prefiltered (micron is best) and must have the appropriate exposure to the UV light in order to work at all.

Problems arise and display tanks get infected by opportunistic pathogens that are introduced when fish are not properly quarantined.

Puffer Queen.

I've had http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=756932 this up for several days now. Unfortunately there hasn't been as much response as I had hoped for. Maybe it was too much information? Maybe it was too much? I dunno.

The problem was not quarantining a fish. I have not added a fish to my main tank in over 6 months. My tank has had fish in it since last June/July.

Parameters right now in main tank are:

0 ammonia
0 nitrite
0 nitrate
8.1 ph
1.024sg

Hospital tank parameters have not been tested. I used half water from main tank and mixed the rest new at a sg of 1.016.

Did you see the pictures? What do you think a regimin is should use for sores?

One chromis is dead now, so I'm only dealing with the one that has the sore on his side. That one died when I moved him from the main tank to QT.

Again, I have done nothing thus far except lower sg to 1.016
