go to your local organic foods market and pick up a variety of seafood treats on a half shell for him to sample, you can also try ghost shrimp and or fiddler crabs withthe pincher removed.
it can take many days for a highly intelligent, highly emotional critter like a puffer to adjust to new surroundings. also who is he in the tank with. is he interactive with you? was he eating in the lfs? what size tank? what type of filtration, water parameters?

300 gal tank w/pair of crosshatch triggers black tang, purple tang , gem tang and a emperor angel.
live rock , 4 inch sand bed ,refuguim G6 skimmer, uv, and 3 ocean clear canister filters .he swims in front of the tank following my finger.

Mine particularly like cut chunks of fresh or defrosted shrimp, squid, clam, and also small chunks of whatever fish i make for dinner (raw of course), usually fattier fish like tuna. Usually when he's following my finger or face around the front of the tank it means he's hungry. give him a few days and offer a bit of variety and i'm sure he'll come around.
