i was wondering do gobies mix well with each other and does the size of the tank matter . . . I currently have a 6ft 90g and have one golden headed sleeper gobie ( Valenciennea strigata ) and my fiance wants to introduce a pair of purple firefish goby ( Nemateleotris magnifica ). I dont know much about the species but the one i have is about 4 inches while the new pair of firefish would be much smaller at about 2 - 3 inches . . . Will i have trouble in paradise???

Gobies never really bother any body. I have a red fire in my tank with other gobies, clowns, and chromis. I would go for it.

What other fish do you have in the tank? I don't think you will have any issues with the gobies, but firefish are pretty docile/wimpy and will not tolerate aggressive fish IMO. The are also notorious jumpers when spooked.

chillaxr6,
I would say that adding the firefish with the sleeper should be ok.

Alexj716,
I would be cautious of adding closely related gobies together unless they are added at the same time. I just had to rescue a Hector's goby from being harassed by a Rainford's who had prior ownership in my 120.

i think the really only aggressive fish i got is a semi aggressive female bird nose wrasse . . . she doesnt hassle anyone till its feeding time . . .which lasts about 2 mins in my tank . . . everything else keeps to themselves . . .

I have a bunch of gobies in my 125. They can be mixed fairly well if from different genus. Yet, mixing two purple firefish may cause them to fight to the death.
