OK so i know dr. ron is the leading authority on sandbeds but for some reason i havent been able to find his forum. Is he still with reefcentral?
Anyway, im having a problem with a green algea that has taken over my sandbed. All Paremiters are 0 (phos, nitrate, trite, ammonia, silica) it is a thriving 46gal bowfront reef. I have had problems with hair algea but it is know under control. I do 10-15% water changes every 1-2 weeks, Run an aqua c remora night and day with ozone injected. Tank has great flow from sieo's and other powerheads on a wavemaker. I have a 10gallon sump with cheato and i use carbon on a continual basis. This tank is about 10 months old. The original sand bed is southdown and about an inch deep, i used to take some out and replace it with every water change. After reading sevral articles about sandbed upkeep and maintenance, i have since removed all sand sifters/stirrirs and have added another inch of arogonite from onther reefers tank. So my problem is in the photos. How do i get rid of the algea?

dr ron's on a break. siphon the algae out. if you're only using 1 inch of sand, it's not really a DSB, so the "rules" against disturbing it don't apply so much. I'd actually go back to siphoning it out with your regular water changes and replacing it as needed. watch your feedings...don't overfeed and do drain any wet/enriched foods before you add them, etc. see if you can tune the skimmer any better....when was the last time you cleaned it, etc. jmho, tom
