I am purchasing a Red Sea ozone generator to hook to my 9010. I understand how to hook this up from the instructions, no problem. My question is this; Most people say to run carbon on the outlet of the skimmer, with the 9010 having a cover on the collection cup, where would you use carbon? Is it necessary?
Thanks

Don't use too much ozone, if you are using ozone as a clarifying agent only I would probably use about 5 mg/hr on a 75. Use a small air pump that does about 50l/hr, the smallest Rena is a good choice. This way you don't blow it in with so much pressure it escapes. To use more ozone effectively you need a reactor, using your skimmer for that purpose is a bad idea because you effectively stop skimming and it wastes the ozone, if you can smell it, it is being wasted.

I bought the smallest Rena air pump. Just so I understand clearly, set the output for about 5mg/hr for my tank size. If I want to run more mg/hr I should use a reactor because it would interfere with the skimmer.
Or did you mean that using a larger air pump would interfere with the skimmer?

" set the output for about 5mg/hr for my tank size. If I want to run more mg/hr I should use a reactor because it would interfere with the skimmer."
