hello all.

I really new to the reef keeping and i have been spending alot of time here on RC.

I have a spare 25 gal and a 75gal sitting around. I would like to make it the 25g into a sump for my 130g display. I just want a sump so i can run a better potien skimmer (ASM G4) that all.

some info.
130g with approx. 50-75lb of live rock.
1-400w 20K MH
2-404 fuval canister
CHEAP Skimmer.

LiveStock.

1 yellow Tang
1 damsel
4 lttle easy to keep sofe coral ( I don't know what they are) ;)

Question.

IS the 25 gal too small to be a sump?

It should be enought to run a skimmer but the main thing is will it hold enough water when the main pump shuts down and the water from the display drains into it.

I have a 100 gallon with a 40 gallon sump. I like bigger sumps cause they are easier to clean, work in and also you can go a little while without having to add water for evaporation. I had to add water every day when I had my 55 gallon display with my 20 gallon sump.

I'm running a 25 gallon rubbermaid sump on my 125. Just make sure you have the extra holding capacity when the pumps shut down. You also won't have room for an effective refugium if you decide to add one.

Any sump is better than no sump..................FWIW
