View Full Version : most pink/purple 20k bulb

I'm thinking about getting new 20k bulbs to offset my Iwasaki's and want to try to get more of a vho look over my tank. I'm looking for the 20k bulb with alot of blue pink and purple. The sun20k is the best I've been able to find so far. What 20k bulb looks very purple? Here's a pic of the sun 20k from cnidarianreef.com.

PS, here's the sun 14k. It really reminds me of vho actinics, but I'm not sure I like all the green. Kind of washes out all other color.

Please give me opinions. I'm considering one of these to offset my Iwasakis. I also considered an evc 14k as it looks similar to the sun 14k.

Radium 20K is very purple, it peaks at 420nm, the actinic spectrum

Radium 20k. I run 250 watters on an HQI ballast so they are much brigther than if you were to run them on an electronic or magnetic ballast.

the xm and the radium look pretty close - what is the difference to the eye in person? do you not like either of them? I am considering a trial of a 20K bulb myself - so many places use 20K to help keep the beautiful wild colors and seems to work well (atlantis aquarium, reefermadness are two that come to mind)

The raium is more purple and the XM is more blue

I took advantage of radiums being for sale on the used stuff forum. We'll see how they do on blueline eballasts. I still want to try those sun 14k's sometime. I think I'll either love them or hate them.

Don't have a photo of a helios 20k. Got a pic?

Does anyone have any info on where to purchase the Helios 20K bulbs? I tried this guy on Ebay, AquariumDirect, but he never shipped the bulbs.

The Sun Aquatics, EVC, and Helios bulbs have the most blue/purple/actinic properties of any other bulb on the market based on Sanjay's bulb graphs. I suspect the bulbs are all the same because the graphs are almost identical.
