What lighting would you suggest to put over the 58g Oceanic tank. It will be an all Softie setup mostly mushrooms and zoos. I was considering a 175w Halide of some sort probably a retro or a T-5 retro.
Or maybe a 175w halide with an actinic suppliment.

I was in the hobby for over 1 year before but got out and now wanting to get back in. Before I had a 55g with 250w MH Reefstar system and didnt use a canopy. This time its a slightly different tank and setup im going to use and im trying to simplify as much as possible.

Don't the T5s last longer than the Halide bulbs?

Im just trying to figure out a way to get good stuff but not feel like I have to work on my tank every day. I considered T5 for less heat because before I had to do alot of water top offs usually every day or a big one in 2 days.

Do you really think that 6 or 8 bulbs are needed for a softie tank? That would be enough for a SPS tank.

I would think that a 2 or 4 bulb T5 set-up would be more than enough.

I also would suggest 2-4....if only 2 though i would spring for the best bulbs you can buy...
