We were just getting used to our lovely 7" diameter GBTA, and it splits last Friday

Didn't realize it had split until later on Saturday when both GBTAs had fully separated.

Made a short video of the before GBTA and after GBTAs....

very cool! Beverly where did you get such nice anemones, the bubble tips on those are sweeeeeeeeeeeeet. It doesn't look like a tremendous amount of water flow in the tank or did you turn offf anything while you where filming? I'm in the process of turning over my tank from SPS to an anemone tank only, any tips would be greatly welcome.Again very nice tank, are those perc's or what?

t.b,

Got the GBTA as a clone from a fellow reefer in another city.

I think lighting has a lot to do with having or not having bubble tips. The GBTA is under an ARC 14000k 175w MH. Have an RBTA in my 67g that's under VHOs and it has no bubble tips.

I never turn off the powerheads during filming, which sometimes lasts for up to an hour. Water flow seems to have to be quite low for BTAs, in my limited experience. There has to be some high flow area in the tank to keep it properly aerated. In my case, without a skimmer, the high flow in the 37g (24"x18"x24" high) GBTA tank is across the back of the tank. High flow back there also prevents the GBTAs from finding a nice, but inaccessible, home behind the rockwork.

Clowns are ocellaris.

HTH :)

Beverly, I have noticed that as well. By putting a maxi-jet1200 in the back lower left hand corner of my 55g, and shooting the stream along the back of the rocks and glass (to deter detritus build-up) my RBTA, when wandering, did not face the back, but to the front with the lower flow.

W0W Beverly! Awesome video!

I just love the way your clown dives in head first and all you can see is the rear side shaking and a grooving! LOL

Mine does the same thing!

Congrats on the split! Wish my RBTA would split, it's getting HUGE!

Your GBTA's are beautiful! :)
