i tried in the equipment forum and didnt get any help, so here i go again...

im ready to start testing the equipment i have so i know exactly what i need to buy.

i got an old bag (still sealed) of coralife salt that i had stashed away, and am going to use it to test the efficiency (foaming ability) of the skimmer.

here is a photo with the skimmer and plumbing that came with it. noticed i labeled some of the ends as they are different and obviously are used for different purposes, so i figure id make it easier for you guys and gals to help with a quick answer like "slot a with tab b". or in this case, s1 to b, d3 to pump, et cetera.

now, should i do this in my 10g 20g or will i achieve the same effect in a 5g home depot bucket? bucket be ok, right?

next, which should work better? my eheim 1250, or rio 2100 (not sure if a lot of power is good or bad for this), figured id ask.

btw, i know the outlet on the skimmer cup is for a drain. but what about the intake for the venturi. i assume i will need to tap a hose into this to make sure it has air intake in case this portion if flooded, correct?

thanks for all the help, cant wait to see what this skimmer can do.

A connects to S1 and will be your outlet, S2 is the mazzai injector and should be hooked directly to the pump. I dont see any use for all the others..

I use a mazzai injector and I love it, i power mine with a Mag 9.5

woohoo a response!

thanks snake,

ill give it a "dry" run in fresh water and if it goes well, in a saltwater bucket.

im assuming the valve is to control the water, forcing it to stay in the skimmer without overflowing, right?

thanks again,
