There seem to be so many different additives. which ones work best?

The only ones you will really need are a balanced Calcium and alkalinity additive (two part solutions like B-Ionic, Tech C-B or one solution additives such as Kalkwasser, Calcium reactor, etc.) and a good water change regimen with a quality synthetic sea salt.

exactly! personaly i have been using B-ionic, but now i use Randys 2 part that i made. MUCH MUCH cheaper than buying a 2 part and just as effective! and i do bi weekly water changes for everything else. heres an article on water chemistry. it will explain what everything does.

I drip kalk. Used to do a gallon a week, but lately upped it to 2-3, to help bind up phosphates. :D
