I am inthe process of upgrading my 75 to a 125 I am buying the tank used. The person that has the tank has it set up as a fowlr now. and It just accured to me what if he might have used copper to treat any illness that he might have encountered in the past/ Would this keep me from being able to keep a reef in that tank and is there any way to remove it if has been treated with copper in the past?

I treated a 110g and a 44g multiple times with copper then used them for all out reef tanks. I even reused some of the rock and sand and had no problem keeping multiple LPS, SPS, clams etc.

I would clean it with acid (to remove CaCO3 deposits that might contain copper) and bleach (to remove organics that might contain copper) in washing different steps.
