(I posted this in the LPS forum - This forum is more well travelled)

Hey everyone. I just picked up an Echinophyllia yesterday, and I put it on the rock near my clam and away from other corals thinking that the clam would not be affected by the echino - Perhaps I was wrong.

This morning the clam has a mucus net around it like it was trying to protect itself. I have never seen that before. The Echino didn't look particularly agressive, but when I picked it up and moved it to a place all by itself my had was tingling for a few minutes afterwards. I blew off the mucus from the clam and everything looks ok.

Anyone seen this before? I know Echinophyllia is a strong stinger.

Thanks.

Jamie

Interesting. Haven't seen that reaction before. Would love to see a photo, if possible.

no idea man, but keep us posted..... my echinos have never had any diverse affects on anything else in my tank.

Everything is ok now, the clam is fine and the Echino is great...

Time will tell I guess, I haven't seen the echino sweepers yet.

My tyree le baby blue echinopora has sweeper tentacles that come out at night. Perhaps that has too.
