I'm about to order my RODI system for Air,Water,Ice and wanted to know if it is safe to drink the water that comes out of it?

Absolutely. If you order the Typhoon III, it will come with an RO only outlet valve. Many people pipe that to their icemaker. I have heard that it is not recommended to drink RO/DI.

It is safe to drink DI. Its a waste of money though and it tastes kind of blah. The Typhoon can be installed with a drinking water kit so you have RO water in a pressurized tank for drinking or icemakers. I plumbed two pressure tanks so I have about 7 gallons of RO water on hand.

Would it be ok to plumb the holding tanks to the DI?

I plumbed mine so the pressure tanks hold RO. I then ran it to the kitchen sink drinking faucet, icemaker, laundry sink RO faucet and to the DI canister and faucet. That way I can get either up to 7 gallons of RO or up to 7 gallons of DI in a hurry.

I heard it takes the minerals out of the water not sure if this is true.

So basically it is water without any kind of nutritional value

DI yes RO no. DI removes almost everything to the point where water is not even electrically conductive. Traditionally it has been used for manufacturing things like pharmecuticals and in the electronics industry. RO removes a large portion of things but still has a percentage in it. You get so little of what your body needs from water that its a moot point anyway.

Except for the water your body needs, of course.;)

Is this how you have your RO/DI set up?
