While progressing through this hobby, I notice that I get certain "WOW" moments when I try something new and it really works to improve my system.

I would like to see a list of your best individual husbandry discoveries for growth, color, and saving money.

I think many "WOW" occur come when people switch from PC to MH.

Lots of wow factors going thru the hobby but there are 4 that have made all the difference and the most noticable difference in my tanks especially the 120bb sps.

Those would be
1.BB
2.high turnover rates within the tank
3. aggressive nutrient export
4. Stable params

None of these save money, but each improved my system dramatically -- in order of WOW factor...

1. Tunze Streams
2. Euroreef CS-180
3. Refugium / Chaeto -- even the cruddy little 24" HOB
4. Orange Zoos
5. Electric Blue Xenia

:)

My wife thinks my skimmer upgrade was the biggest improvement, I'd tend to agree.

Yeah, I should have mentioned this myself. Changing from Red Sea to Deltec--best investment ever!!!

1. The experts ain't always right.
2. The hobbyists ain't always wrong. 3. The most expensive ain't always the best.

My biggest wow moment has been that I have kept corals alive for a year.

They aren't in the best shape but they are alive. I am working on getting them into the best shape though. All of my SPS are growing even though they aren't the brightest in coloration. To me that is pretty wow especially since I bought them thinking that they wouldn't last very long just as a "lets see what happens" Thing.

Here's one of mine:

Just last night I decided to shine the flashlight in my sump.
Of course their was some detritus but...
TONS on Pods, a lot of those little white cottony sponges and even tube worms attached to the glass!!!

Keep in mind, that this sump is NOT lit.....who says life cant thrive in darkness??

I'm amazed at how well the little ball of Chaeto in my HOB fuge soaks up nutrients. Now NO3 and PO4 stay at zero and the corals look very happy :)
