Trying to decide on appropreate skimmer for new 125g reef.I would rather spend extra${100} for larger model now, then to regret having "under-purchased" later. I plan on mounting "in-tank" and plan to keep assorted hard corals/clams etc. If the doc 9015 is not overkill in a {-} way, I would opt to have overkill. Also I have some confusion reguarding dimensions, model 9015 measures L4.9XW4.4XH18.8...does this include collection cup?THANKS FOR HELPING WITH PURCHASE:rollface:

In my opinion, since they are the same skimmer the best choice is a 9010 and then upgrade to the foam removal tube that replaces the cup with a drain. The performance is about the same as a 9015. Only the cup/ reaction chamber varies between the 9010 and 9015.

Thank you Roger for your reply. This may also answer my ? about dimensions ie; the housings are the same height, only the collection cup is larger??? PLEASE CONFIRM. Thanks. P.S. is there a retailer located near Sacramento CA.?

P.S.S. Does this mean that DOC 9005 is essentially the same skimmer as 9010/9015, but with an even smaller collection cup?...and if so, this unit could also be "upgraded"? Thanks again for helping me with my purchase.

9005 also has a smaller pump, making it expensive to upgrade. 9015 is a 9010 with a bigger cup and sincee the cup is also part of the reaction chamber it lets you open the venturi further. Marine Depot would be the closest dealer which stocks the skimmers.
