i am thinking of using ozone on my tank, but dont know how to go about it.
i have a etss 750 down draft skimmer, can i just drill a john guest fitting into the black "box" and pump the ozone into that?
or do i just let it run into the sump with an airstone or something??
thanks

NO AIRSTONE!!!!!!
you need to hook it up to airline hose.. i heave never seen a downraft skimmer so cant tell you how to do that but it needs to be tapped into the airline going into the skimmer.

a downdraft skimmer has a tower that has bioballs in it, as the water from the pump goes into the tower, the velocity of the pump water (iwaki55rlt) draws in air that gets chopped up by the bio balls, maybe i can just drill and tap a small hole in the top of that tower.
i will wait for more opinions before i do any drilling.
thanks

put a "t" in the airline that is supplying the pumps venturi. it will pull the ozone into the skimmer. don't forget your carbon for both the air that is released by the skimmer and for the water output of the skimmer.

i wish it was that easy, a downdraft skimmer doesnt have a venturi, just a fitting that draws in air as the water rushes past the fitting

contact the maker of our skimmer and ask them how to do it or even is the plastic and acrylic are ozone safe...

yeah, thats probably what ill do, ive seen some skimmers similar to mine that have a fillint installed in the black box on the bottom of the skimmer (also has the gate valve sticking out of it)

i drew an arrow where you would inject the ozone at. Their skimmers are made of acrylic so they are ozone safe. the bioballs will eventually get brittle and probably need replaced in a couple of years. you don't want to restrct this line. The easiest way would be to get a T and attach the ozone line the air being pulled by the skimmer will cause the ozone to be pulled uinto the skimmer. not sure if this is your exact skimmer but they all have this inlet from what I can tell.

thanks.

it's the 750 off of etss website you probably have the square box on the bottom. same concept. might not have to drilol if you can find the right fittng for it.
