Are they reef safe? Ive been asking some of the LFS around here and some say they are safe and others say no(but with caution).

blue throat triggers are your best bet

Yea, some say that or the niger trigger. What about the crosshatch?

Crosshatch's are in the same boat as the Blue Throats. Most are ok but you could get a killer.

I would look at a Crosshatch, Pink Tail or Blue Throat first. I find the Niger Triggers to be a little more boisterous than the above.

Ive had a Blue Throat in with shrimps and crabs for a little over a year. Hasnt gone after anything but my hand. It really hates me...and their bites are painful.

I would just be cautious with inverts.

I would imagine a tank free of shrimp, crabs, etc. My Niger had an attitude. He went blind a couple years ago, I feed him by hand now and he is completely reef safe :D
