I just got my Aqua Controller 2 yesterday Feb 6 and wanted to know if it is ok to submerge the probe or not.

Only if you want to know the temperature of the water. ;)

Sorry I should have been a little clearer as to what I meant.

Thanks that is what I was looking for. I now have to find a way to keep the probe from going all the under.

By the way thanks for the help everyone, especially you Dr. BDC...You made me spit water all over the screen in laughter.

You can buy probe holders / wire glands and stick the probes inline with your plumbing as well.

Mine is about six inches under water.

No problems here.

I got some styrofoam...and then read through the FAQ's on the website...low and behold there it is "we suggest using a piece of sytrofoam with a smaller diameter hole then the probe as a cheap and easy alternative to mounting it in the sump."

These guys really did think of everything.

Yep, I have mine thru a piece of styro. Only about 3/4 of the probe is submerged. Accurate as the floater I have.

if you are worried about the probe falling through take a small zip tie around the and use it as a "stop" to keep it from going through.

Thanks szwab,

Never thought of that. Not that falling thru was a concern, but what an idea! Doing that now.

Thanks,
JR

A rubber band will also work to keep the probe in place.

Why can the probe not be submerged fully? Why can't you just put it in your sump and let it lay on the bottom?

I think it isn't completly sealed at the top where the shrink wrap is. It appears that it might be ok to do so, but at the risk of destroying a probe and possibly something in or on your tank it is just better to have one end in the water for safety...am I right ?

Mine has been submerged for months and I haven't seen any problems.....

that would be my guess the temp probes have changed recently from the big probe to a small sensor which can be submeged (actually needs to be)

The one I have is looks like a small sensor about .5 inch. So its okay to throw it in the sump fully submerged?

OKAY! This is making more sense now. Mine is the newer style which is basically a wire with a small bulge on the end. Completely submergible with no problems. I have never seen the old style so I cant form an opinion. But the new style can definitely be submerged with no problems.
