This is probably a dumb question, before you say it; I KNOW! Anyhow, how do you tell when you need to change the media in your reactor? I am using an MRC-2. It is the two cylinder model, and the thing that makes me wonder is that in the first chamber, the media which was once almost to the top is now only about 5" out of the original 20" or so. However the other chamber looks like it has not changed at all. Any help will be appreciated before I mess with taking everything apart. I am using CaribSea ARM Aragonite media if that makes a difference.

Normally the first chamber wears out a lot faster than the other. You can add media when the 1st chamber is empty. What I did was I took the old media from 2nd chamber and put them in the 1st chamber and then added more media until it's filled to the top and for the 2nd chamber I filled only halfway.

"hope that helps"

the second chamber will go down very little as it's design is only to absorb residual co2 in theory
