Newbie here. I had an anemone die in my tank while I was away on vacation. It dissappeared, and since then I have had a cyano bloom (1 month). I assume that it disintegrated into the sand.
The tank is a shallow sand bed. I don't have enough sand to replace the whole bottom on hand. Can I help the situation by vacuuming out my sand, vigorously stirring it in a bucket of tank water to dislodge as much junk as possible, and carefully putting the sand back in?
