I am looking for any information or experience with the Sequence Reeflo UNO Tarpon.

Noise level?
Heat production?

Thanks

Thanks,

I don't know how long these pumps have been out. Maybe not long enough for there to be much experience. Maybe I will try posting in the sponsor forums for the vendors that carry these pumps.

For 2 months I have been using a Wahoo with 2 Penductors, very quiet, low heat pump.

I hear that they are very good--always recommended along with Dolphin AmpMaster as one of the quietest pumps out there. I think they are supposed to have even higher build quality. Here's a question: has anyone heard of the PanWorld pumps carried by Premium Aquatics? Check them out:

Here's a thread that perhaps answers my question, but other opinions would be appreciated:

ulua56, how do you like the flow/pressure capablilities of the pump? I am looking to use the Tarpon for my return pump. Probably about 10ft of combined static and dynamic head(but it could be more). I figure this should give me somewhere around 6-8x turnover for my 125gal.

I run the PanWorld 200 from my basement sump. Great pump, certainly handles head pressure very well.

You mentioned this is in your basement, so this probably doesn't matter much to you, but is it quiet?

The 200 has a cooling fan that is a littel bit noisy. I believe, and please verify, that the 50 model you linked to, does not have a fan. Even with the fan running, it is quiter than the MAG 2400 that it replaced.

Thanks, David. I just had a PM exchange with a guy who has had the PanWorld 200 and the Sequence Reefflo Dart. He said the Panworld 200's have some sound, but just a small whirring of the fan. On the other hand, he said the ReefFlo was so quiet you had to put your hand on it to tell it is on.

Here's a stupid question I hope someone can answer:

If you are currently plumbed for 3/4" inlet and outlet on a pump, what do you need to do if you want to run a 1" or 1.5" or even 2" inlet and outlet pump? Do you have to replumb the whole thing? Could that potentially put backpressure on the pump and cause problems? What connectors to downstep from 1" to 3/4" could you use? Direct links appreciated!

My .02

The pumps with a 1.5" outlet are usually flow, not pressure pumps. Downstepping to a 3/4" pipe is going to be significantly flow limiting. For instance, on a Sequence3600(1.5" outlet), a 2 foot run of 3/4" pipe cuts flow in HALF.

If your input is too small, you may get cavitation(bubbles, vibration).

BTW, any more thoughts on the Tarpon.
