Opinions on EVC tech ballast and bulbs

I am about to buy 2 EVC tech 250W electronic ballasts with 250W 14k bulbs.

I will be using them on the sides of my 250g acrylic bowfront that is 28" high.

I have a 400W Blueline e-ballast for the center.

Is that a decent set up?

No experience with the 250w. The 400w works fine and appears, very, very, very similar to the icecap....

The 400w SE 10k is a pretty nice bulb and FWIW I believe that it is the bulb that Sanjay Joshi uses on his system. I like the Ushio 14k just a bitmore, but they are pretty close.

The price is decent on both, the ballast and the bulbs. I never had 14k's so I can't wait to see what they look like.

The 14K's are very blue, closer to a 20K and seem to lose their punch early on. I've read the ballasts are the same as the ReefFanatic ballast.

I had 14k 400w and growth was really slow. I switched to CoralVue Reflux 10k:)

Hmmm, so go with 10k again......and VHO actinics?
