I am thinking about using T5 lighting for my tank. I have a 72" 4x96W Current USA PowerCompact Orbit Fixture . I still want to use this fixture too. I need to know if anybody is making a kit for the T5 that is 72". So I can make it look like the Orbit fixture. I also need to know what kind of Ballast to run the lights.

Thanks for your help

Rick

I think you might have to end up using 2 36inch T-5 fixtures. There's no manufacturer that i've heard of that make 72in T-5 fixtures. Also, to run the T-5s you use a flourescent ballast (Icecap, Triad, Workhorse, etc).

The longer a bulb is the more efficient/powerful it gets. Try staggering the 60" bulbs (thats as long as they get). Even if they were centered I dont think the 6in on either side would get that dark.
