I visited Exotic Aquatic for the 1st time today.
Small store but good stuff.
Fish are really good and prices are great.

I really liked their booking system A LOT!
You search for the fish in the book and "WALA" you get the price for the fish, it's name, reef compatible,care level and behaviour.

I loved it :)
I give it an A+

Oh I wanted to visit Reef Edge today too for the 1st time.
I searched everywhere I just couldn't find the store. I than called them for directions etc. I got the answering machine and than I found out that monday and tuesdays it is only open for appointments :(. LOL They need to update their website. On the website it says it's only closed on Tuesdays oh well

I had a good day today :)

Bought a nice anemone and a CopperBand Butterflyfish :D WOOHOO! :)

i guess im the only person who ever has bad experiences in this store.. the kids that work there that are my age are always helpful and polite... we talk about school, fraternities, fish, etc... rob and his wife have NEVER been nice to me.. i went in to ask his wife if she could build me a custom HOB overflow like Melev's and she cut me off and was like "thats not what you want, this is" hands me a pre-filter that cost like 90 bucks and walked away...

i will never go in there again if i dont have to...

You are not talking about the store. Rob From Exotic Aquatic does NOT have a wife! Not sure what store you are talking about but its not this one! :rollface:

I think he is talking about Coral Seas Pets, Robbie and Eva......
But they are nice people once you get to know them.

In my experience, they aren't nearly as good as they think they are. They've been around forever. I do have to say, when I worked down south, I'd get all my feeders there. Their guppies live longer than most places (for some reason).

I hadn't been in there for a month or three, and finally went back in yesterday...

Anyone see that really cool hanging double bowfront hes got in the center of the store now?

Looks like he's getting ready to put together a new central display tank as well. There were a few panes 1/2 or 5/8 glass stacked against one wall, and one of em was drilled a few times.

Cool shizzy, so to speak. :bum:

yeah! the new tank is going to be around 400G...should be cool to see when its finally done! Rob is all excited to start stocking it...but the guy has been saying since before xmas he is going to finish it so they aren't holding their breath! But if you want to see the difference between starfire and regular glass...stop in a look at it....pretty big difference, more then I expected. The bottom is regular glass and the sides are the starfire...Should be cool when its done! =)

Must agree, Exotic Aquatics, small shop, but great customer service...
Coral Seas Pets are knowledgeable, nice coral selection
As for Reefs Edge, do not waste your time...
They are simply low end fish peddlers, there business is predominately service.
They use to have great livestock and corals, one can only assume a changed supplier.
Another great store to visit is Atlantis Aquariums or Strictly Fish both in Miami

Reef's Edge is a great store and in my opinion it's rude to make the statements you did. Reef's Edge very often has many hard to find fish (especially African) that you won't see other places. Reef's Edge rates above exotic aquatic in my book. I would ecourage everyone to drop by both to check them out.

Reefs Edge is worth it simply for the center display tank, if nothing else.

I have to agree with chrisaggie. I went to Exotic Aquatics for the first time since they moved today, can't say I saw anything out of the extraordinary.
I bought two blue Hippo Tangs, a Naso and a cleaner wrasse from Reef's Edge and they are all thriving.
Reef Life, Reef's Edge and Aquarium World, those are my stores!

I like Reef Life and Exotic Aquatic. Sounds like I need to go find Reef's Edge one of these days....

I picked up these beauties from Exotic the other day:

Hey! How much did you pay for the powder blue tang?

jeffbrig

It was either $80 or $100, I can't remember which fish was which. They sold him as a large, he's over 5".

I too have had nothing but good experiences with Exotic Aquatic in Broward. Here is why I support this particular LFS:

1) the staff is well informed;
2) they are honest about what will and won't be compatible with your current tank mates;
3) they will never sell you a fish that looks ill and will tell you if a fish is not eating;
4)unlike some larger nearby chain stores, this shop cares about its livestock, and will actually treat fish that become ill rather than just ignoring them.
