I have a hairy mushroom that seems to retract (or close) alot. There are a few zoa's that are up against it. Wondering if the zoa's have anything to do with this behavior? To be honest, I dont know too much about the behavior of a hairy mushroom. Any helpful links or advice is appreciated.

By close up do you mean shrivel up or close like a flower ( the outsides coming up to touch each other)
My hairy mushrooms close up like a flower when they are feeding esp when I add fish food.
If the contract or shrivel up than something is bothering them mabye another coral or a fish or something.
hope this helps

Would zoa's that are touching it cause it to shrivel up and not open? It has been this way now for three days.

Also pay attention to the flow you have it in. If mine is in a high flow area it only opens to about an inch and a half but in low flow it opens to nearly 5 inches across.

I would say the best way to find out if the zoos are bothering it is to move one of them and see if anything chages if a few days.
