Chromis are damselfish. It's a damsel of some sort. A pretty one at that.

I read that damsels are distant relatives of perches and cichlids so the resemblance isn't surprising.

They all can't be that evil because the lfs has a 3-4'' once in their reef with a yellow tang, clowns, and gobies and he doesn't bug them a bit.

It's all fun and games until your ripping out your rock to remove it.

Could it be a limbaughi chromis?

these guys are honestly the most peaceful fish i have kept they never bother anything and for the most part i worry about them, they sometimes interfere with my SFE's feedings and he takes nips at them as well as my female ocel/perc cross constantly chases them the only fish in my tank they ever bother with is my LB and they never actually go after him they just pick up the dust as he pulls up any algae i would consider these guys much more peaceful than the green chromis i have kept in the past IMO these are the ultimate dither fish

I do believe that paintbug was right on the money with the ID thank you for that

still confuses me though that when i follow the latin names as well as the alternate latin i come up with many species it goes to show how broad the species we keep are and that there is still no firm identification for many of them makes me feel like i have something special even though i only paid 4.99 for them

sometimes u cant blame store as distibuters mislabel more ....and if lfs cant tell difference than they follow leed. wholesalers say one thing send something else...ask anyone who orders from time to time.
