Just thought everyone could use a smile.

too many of us get too attached to our own opinions and take it to heart when others disagree.

subjectivity is fine, as long as you dont let it get in the way of objectivity.

from everything that ive read, seen, and witnessed, the size of a particular tang is always a focal point, when it shouldnt be.

forget the size of a tang when deciding if it will "fit". consider its behavior. these type of fish are free swimmers, all they want to do is "just keep swimming, just keep swimming", so a spacious large tank is key.

a lion 3 times the size would be far happier in a 75 than a naso in a 120. (generalization people, to make a point).

so the next time you are buying any fish, consider what it likes to do, and if you can match that environment grab em.

in other words, if you have a 180g bare bottom tank, dont by a sand sifting goby just cuz its small and "fits".

It is a shame that you have that big fish in that little fish tank:)
I laughed when I saw that.

Im glad you folks got a kick out of it!!

for a moment, i thought the "anit-jest" division of the tang police were gonna track me down :)

fortunately, a nudibranch is the head, so itll be a while before they come around

Yea I think the tank is big enough for the tang but if I were you I would take that goldfish in the bottom right out (I hear they get really big and they like ponds and lakes).

hey pitstop, what a great idea. at first i thought you were kidding. But then i thought, WAIT, he probably meant juveniles!!! So off to the lfs i went.

so before everyone gets mad and calls the gestapo on me, realize that:

a. they are all happy
b. they all get along
c. the sohals are juveniles and small
d. i got them in an odd schooling number

donst everyone look happy

<img src="http://reefcentral.com/gallery/data/500/50458minobow-tangs.jpg" />

now i know as long as everyone is happy and small i could fit a few more in there. im thinking something odd or colorful. hmmmm.

The tang will never grow bigger than the tank.

i'm thinking the tank would need about 5-10 lbs of live rock in there so it has something to pick on.

thats probably what the "caulerpa" is there for, to "get picked on"

ive heard that 1 BIG tang can take about 8 mini sohals. at least thats what my lfs told me, so i think fishypapas is within tolerances.

A pair of cross hatch triggers would add a nice color contrast:D

Dual 400 Watt Luminarcs would do your system serious justice as well I submit.

It's fine. I'm sure you're planning to upgrade soon......you know the next couple of years or something.

i'll take 2 of the sohal's, i think they would make an excellent addition to my ten gallon nano. do you think they would get along with a clown? that's too cute... lol

DAMN MY LFS

they told me:

1. as long as i upgrade "soon"
2. keep the tangs in an odd number

"and there would be no problems"

now look!

<img src="http://reefcentral.com/gallery/data/500/50458tgw.jpg"/>

now my yellow tang has gone mad. hes started to kill and eat the sohals

what went wrong?
