I have a couple questions about this product. Is it an alternative to carbon? Does it need to really be replaced only every 6 months? Does it work? Do you use it? Thanks.

I have wanted to use it but carbon is much cheaper.I always thought it was carbon just better quality.

I've used this product for several years in my African Cichlid tanks and I think it's absolutely fantastic. I haven't tried in my marine tank yet, I'm waiting for our local fishclub auction so I can afford to buy some. It works for well over 4 months before I notice changes in the chemistry of my water, but I also do weekly water changes to maintain good clean tanks.

Good Luck!
Ken

The thing that has attracted me to it is that I read that you don't have to change it out every 2-4 weeks, they say 6 months so it's probably more like 3 months. Anyone else?

I run it in my 150 gallon reef full time. I started using it about three years ago when I noticed my water was slightly yellow. It's been crystal clear ever since, and I have never noticed any I'll effects. Fantastic stuff IMHO.

I personally knew Dick Boyd for many years. I distributed this product around the country for many years through our wholesale division.

It is really nothing more than a good quality activated carbon. As for it lasting 6 months, good advertising hype. I have personally used it, and find that it, like any carbon, eventually is exhausted.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against the product, however, to say it is
works miracles is foolish.

yeah in saltwater nothing works like that! or somebody would be rich! but it does help...and in salt...things that "help" are welcomed by most!

I found that the chemi pure will release phophates, try two little fishies hydro cabon 2, IMO it is better quality than cp and does not release any detectable phophates
